Interests

Melanie is an award-winning case writer with an interest in ethics of care and how it manifests in organizations, specifically through human resource management and labour relations practices. Melanie has pedagogical and research interests in labour relations, social enterprises, and non-profit organizations. She is a member of the Innovation for Social Good (ISG) Research Cluster at TRU.

Employment History

Before joining TRU as an Assistant Teaching Professor in 2018, Melanie worked for over twenty years as an HR Consultant, Advisor and Manager. She held leadership roles in Workforce Planning & Development, Talent Management, Recruitment, and Compensation & Benefits in both private and public sector organizations.

Melanie has a passion for sharing knowledge that extends beyond her teaching role to include a podcast, The HR Mentor, which provides guidance and advice to early-career HR professionals. The show can be found on popular podcast streaming apps and has over 80 episodes over four seasons.
