Covid-19 Updates

Alumni Events Postponed

The events of the past few months have been challenging as we adjust to the realities of COVID-19 and its impacts on our community.  In response to recommendations from provincial health officials regarding public gatherings, TRU Alumni & Friends is postponing in-person Alumni events until further notice.

We are endeavoring to support all our alumni, friends and partners as much as possible during these times and will announce new dates once social activities resume.  We look forward to offering virtual events in the near future and continue to connect with you.

Update your information on our Keep in Touch page and see a full list of Benefits and Services set up for TRU Alumni.  Don't forget to sign up for our e-newsletter to stay up to date on the latest TRU Alumni news and events.

TRU 50th Anniversary Update

A message from Brian Daly, Vice-President University Relations

For the past year, the staff and faculty of TRU have been planning events and celebrations to mark our 50th anniversary. While this has been an unusual year to celebrate, plans are still underway to mark the occasion and we invite your participation.

We’re moving many of our face-to-face activities to a virtual space: our Gifts of Learning series is running online and is available at We’re also producing a special commemorative issue of Bridges magazine, installing a timeline display in Old Main, and unveiling new artwork at the main entrance of the campus in the fall.

There are several other initiatives still underway that you can contribute to:

TRU Influencer nominations:
Submit your nomination by Friday, July 31. It only takes a few minutes and could earn recognition for a deserving individual, someone who has impacted the fabric of the institution or has made a lasting impression on the students, faculty and staff at the heart of TRU. Nominate at

Time capsule recommendations:
We will be unearthing the time capsule hidden at our 25th anniversary and replacing it with items to mark our 50th. Send your ideas or arrange delivery of an item to

Timeline suggestions:
We are building a physical timeline in Old Main to show key milestones at TRU. What should we consider? Send your suggestions to

Photo and memory submissions:
We want to hear about the time the science students placed a car in a stairwell. If you have a photo, we’d like to see that, too. Share your favourite memories and photos by sending your submission to

We look forward to continuing our 50th celebrations with you in the months to come!
