Starting February 2, 2026, TRU is introducing Pay-Per-Print for students. Add funds online with your debit or credit card and pay only for what you print. Scanning remains free (account required). Paper is included.
Pay-Per-Print – student printing
Students can add credit to their Pay-Per-Print account in PaperCut using major credit or debit cards with their TID number and password. Credit can be added in $2, $5, $10, $15 or $20 increments.
Scanning is free, but a valid Pay-Per-Print account is required for access.
Printers default to black and white, double-sided printing to support TRU’s sustainability efforts.

Terms and conditions
Thompson Rivers University (TRU) Pay-Per-Print accounts and the use of the printers and TRU Print and Copy Services (the “Services”) are governed by these terms and conditions and TRU policies.
By obtaining a Pay-Per-Print account, depositing funds into your Pay-Per-Print account or by using the Services, you agree to and accept all these terms and conditions.
Use and ownership
You are the only person entitled to use your Pay-Per-Print account. You may not use your Pay-Per-Print account for any improper or unlawful purpose.
Misuse of the Services or another person’s account (including credential sharing, falsifying account information, or unauthorized access) breaches TRU’s Responsible Use of IT Facilities and Services (BRD 16-0) and may result in account suspension and action under TRU’s Information Security Policy (BRD 16-1) and Student Affairs non-academic conduct processes.
Users must comply with Canadian copyright law, TRU Copyright Policy (ADM 03-0), and TRU Fair Dealing Policy (ADM 03-1) when using the Services. Copying or printing of copyright-protected works is permitted only to the extent allowed by law. Further guidance is available from the Intellectual Property Office (copyright@tru.ca).
You may use your Pay-Per-Print account at all locations which support the Services. The account functions on the principles of a declining balance where print or copy jobs produced on a TRU print device will be deducted from your account.
You are responsible for the use of your Pay-Per-Print account, including debits made because of misuse of your account. If you have problems using your account, you must first try to settle the problem directly with your financial service provider. In some circumstances, TRU may be able to aid in resolving disputed or declined transactions.
Ensure you log out of your Pay-Per-Print account at the end of each session.
Security
You are responsible for safeguarding your Pay-Per-Print account information against loss or theft and for keeping your online account password confidential. TRU will not ask you to divulge any of your access information.
Anytime you suspect that your password has been compromised in any way, change your password immediately. You can also deactivate your Pay-Per-Print account by calling TRU Print Services at 250-828-5141 or visit Wolfie’s Campus Store for assistance. An email or voice message does not constitute proper notification.
You are responsible for all transactions made on your Pay-Per-Print account until it has been reported to TRU as compromised. TRU is not responsible for debits or services obtained on a compromised account.
After you deactivate your Pay-Per-Print account, you will not be responsible for any further unauthorized use. Once a replacement Pay-Per-Print account has been issued, your remaining cash balance will be transferred to your new Pay-Per-Print account.
Expired Pay-Per-Print accounts
Your Pay-Per-Print account expires after twelve (12) months of inactivity. When an account expires, any remaining balance is cancelled and forfeited (not refundable or redeemable for cash).
Account balances non-refundable and not redeemable
Funds added to your Pay-Per-Print account are non-refundable and not redeemable in cash. Your balance has no cash value; it may only be used to pay for on-campus printing and cannot be credited back to a payment card or other account.
For this reason, please add only the amount of credit you reasonably expect to use.
Chargebacks for eligible print job failures
If a print job fails due to a machine issue, you may request a chargeback to your account. Eligible failures include (but aren’t limited to) paper jams, low/empty toner, or other mechanical/device malfunctions.
Chargebacks are not available for user errors, such as incorrect document setup or choosing the wrong settings (for example, selecting double-sided when single-sided was intended).
How to request a chargeback
- Log in to your Pay-Per-Print account and open Recent Print Jobs.
- Find the affected job and click Request Refund in the far-right column.
- Choose Full amount or Partial amount (enter the partial amount if only part of the job failed).
- Enter the Reason for Request and click Send.
An administrator will review your request and notify you of the decision. Approved chargebacks are credited to your Pay-Per-Print account balance (not to a payment card or in cash) within five (5) business days and may be used toward future printing. Refunds or redemptions in cash will not be issued for eligible failures.
Charge disputes
If a charge on your Pay-Per-Print account cannot be resolved with your financial service provider and you wish to dispute it further, notify TRU Print Services by emailing payperprint@tru.ca within ten (10) calendar days of the transaction date.
Please include the date, location, and amount of the transaction, as well as any relevant information that may assist staff in reviewing your claim. Initiating a dispute with TRU does not guarantee that the charge will be credited to your Pay-Per-Print account. Each dispute is reviewed individually.
Transfer unused credit to another student
You are eligible to transfer your credits to another TRU student’s active Pay-Per-Print account.
Currency
All Pay-Per-Print account funds are in Canadian dollars.
Liability and indemnity
Thompson Rivers University is not liable to you for any loss, damages or expenses of any kind that may result from the use or misuse of your Pay-Per-Print account or the Services, or if your Pay-Per-Print account is not accepted or you do not have sufficient funds in your account.
You agree to indemnify, hold harmless and release TRU from any and all claims for losses, damages, injury, fees, expenses, charges or debts made by any party against TRU arising out of the use or misuse of your Pay-Per-Print account or the Services.
Privacy notice
