All about Kamloops

Whether you are visiting Kamloops for the first time or a returning guest, we are excited to have you visit our amazing city while you attend an event at the TRU Conference Centre.

The name “Kamloops” actually means “meeting of the waters” as it is where the North and the South Thompson Rivers come together. A city of about 85,000, the Kamloops region is enriched by the culture and traditions of more than 15 First Nations, including the Secwepemc, on whose territory TRU is established. Ethnic communities from virtually every continent have also settled in Kamloops, and enrich the city with their traditions and cuisine. Kamloops boasts four distinct seasons and is a central hub for sporting events and outdoor recreation.
