The TRU Co-operative Education program can be integrated into the following undergraduate and post-baccalaureate programs.
Bachelor's Degrees
Bachelor of Arts
All Majors
- Achieved and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.67
- Completed 48 credits before beginning first work term.
Bachelor of Natural Resource Science
All Majors
- Achieved and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.33
- Completed first year courses.
Bachelor of Computing Science
- Achieved and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.33
- Completed COMP 2230 and 2920 prior to their first work term. Students must be enrolled in at least 2 on-campus Computing Science courses per academic semester.
Bachelor of Engineering in Software Engineering
All Majors
- Achieved and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.33
- Co-operative education is a requirement of the degree. Students are required to complete two mandatory work terms (a total of eight months) in the fourth year of study. Up to three Co-op work terms (a total of twelve months) may count towards the work experience required for professional designation, providing it is supervised by a P.Eng.
Bachelor of Business Administration
All Majors
- Achieved and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.67
- Completed or are enrolled in the following courses before beginning first work term: ECON 1900, ECON 1950, MIST 2610, ACCT 2210, ACCT 2250, and ECON 2320.
Bachelor of Tourism Management
All Majors
- Achieved and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.33
- Co-operative education is a requirement of this degree. Students who started their academic program after September 2023 are required to complete a minimum of one mandatory work term (a total of 4 months) prior to graduation. Students who began their academic program prior to September 2023 have the option to complete the Co-op program.
Bachelor of Science
All Biology majors
- Achieved and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.33
- Completed first year and completed three of the following courses: BIOL 2160, BIOL 2170, BIOL 2280, or BIOL 2290, before beginning the first work term.
All Chemistry majors
- Achieved and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.33
- Completed first year, including CHEM 1500/1510 or CHEM 1500/1520, CHEM 2120/2220 and CHEM 2100/2250 prior to beginning first work term.
Mathematics & Economics major
- Achieved and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.67
- Completed a minimum of 48 credits before beginning first work term.
Computing Science & Data Science
- Achieved and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.33
- Completed COMP 2230 and 2920 prior to beginning first work term. Students must be enrolled in at least 2 on-campus Computing Science courses per academic semester.
Physics major
- Achieved and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.33
- Completed PHYS 1100/1200 or 1150/1250, 2000, 2200, 2250; MATH 2110 and 2120. Completion of COMP 1130 or 1520 is highly recommended. Preference will be given to students with a demonstrated background in computers and electronics.

Tourism Management Diplomas
- Achieved and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.33
- Co-operative education is a requirement of this diploma. - No specific course requirements prior to beginning a work term. A maximum of 2 Co-op work terms can be completed.
