Program Overview

The Sociocultural Dynamics of Wildfire Certificate at TRU offers a transformative approach to understanding and addressing wildfires in Canada. This unique program equips students with critical knowledge of the impact of land use from colonial to contemporary times, Indigenous methodologies pertaining to land use and wildfires, and the impact of wildfires on sociocultural relationships.

Through interdisciplinary courses and expert instruction, students will gain tools to contribute meaningfully to wildfire management and community resilience. Become part of a learning community dedicated to reconciliation, inclusive land stewardship and Indigenous knowledge.

  • Completion of BC Grade 12 or equivalent (Adult Dogwood or Mature Student status)
  • English Studies 12/English First Peoples 12 with a minimum grade of 73%
