Accuplacer

The Accuplacer test is required for admission to some programs, but can also be taken as a general math and English assessment prior to starting upgrading. It is recommended for students who have been out of school for a number of years. Academic Advisors help determine if writing the test is advisable, provide information on how to prepare and use test results as a tool for accurate course placement in math and English.

The general assessment covers five areas:

  • Reading comprehension
  • Sentence skills
  • Arithmetic
  • Elementary algebra
  • Writing ability

Assessments take from one to three hours. Cost is $39.95. Picture identification required.  Results are provided in about 10 days from the day of writing.

Private Testing

The TRU Assessment Centre provides private testing services for individuals wanting to write exams from institutions or agencies other than TRU.

Fees

$50 + GST per sitting

Postage
  • Regular mail or pre-paid waybill provided by the institution/agency: No charge
  • Courier: Within BC - $10, Nationwide - $15, other locations - fees vary.

Typing Test

The TRU entry assessment typing test is an online test that assesses a candidate's typing speed and accuracy. It can be completed at the Assessment Centre in Williams Lake or virtually via Zoom.
