Thompson Rivers University is a public post-secondary institution, funded by the Province of British Columbia through the Ministry of Advanced Education, Innovation and Technology.
TRU is established by an act of the British Columbia Provincial Legislature and is a member of the Research Universities' Council of British Columbia.
TRU is accredited at the associate, baccalaureate and master’s degree levels by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) as of Sept. 1, 2018. Accreditation involves a lengthy, rigorous, ongoing self-evaluation and peer-evaluation process to assess an institution on a range of internationally-recognized standards of excellence and quality. » Learn more

TRU is an authorized testing centre for a range of internationally recognized, standardized tests, including the TOEFL and TOEIC exams, the Language Proficiency Index (LPI), the AccuPlacer English Placement Test, and the Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK) Chinese Proficiency Exam.
