Networking

Students are instructed, coached and make ongoing mentorship relationships and career connections with some of North America's top adventure instructors, guides and business operators. For example, a student in the Adventure Guide Certificate or Diploma programs will study with dozens of instructors in a single year.

In addition, in the Bachelor of Tourism Management and Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies Adventure Studies students are involved in real and relevant programming, consulting and applied adventure industry projects. This project-based and experiential learning within course-work and field schools leads to community development and networking connections. this is the way education should be!

Job postings

Many adventure business operators prefer to hire our graduates because of their superior training and are often recruited specifically for their understanding and expertise. Job postings, practicums and career opportunities are posted through online platforms or job boards or through faculty mentorship. Note that this is only available to Adventure Studies Department students and graduates.

Practicum opportunities

The Bachelor of Tourism Management in Adventure Studies has several practicum opportunities where students can earn credits towards their degree by programming adventure activities on campus. Students may also receive credit for adventure industry practicum experiences.

Career coaching and counselling

All the instructors in the Adventure Studies Department have longstanding experience in the adventure industry. They have built significant careers and have a broad perspective on the industry. Their goal is to help you build your career!
