Co-op Abroad

The purpose of the Co-op Abroad option is to educate current students in the global arena. With a commitment to accessibility, choice, flexibility and personal attention, Co-op Abroad makes international opportunities accessible to Co-op students. Co-op students from all TRU program areas are eligible for Co-op Abroad.

Students considering working overseas should allow up to eight months prior to departure for planning and visa application processing.

What you need before you go

  • Be an existing co-op student.
  • Complete Co-op 1000 Career Management.
  • Apply through one of the approved Co-op Abroad programs.
  • Plan to return to TRU to complete your studies.
  • Have the support of a program advisor and co-op coordinator.
  • Completed one domestic work term with at least a “satisfactory” grade from the employer supervisor

Domestic and international students are eligible. International students should consult with an ISA when applying for international postings. You must be able to secure a work permit for that country.

Co-op Abroad is not yet available for Open Learning students.

Transportation and accommodation may or may not be provided by the company. Be aware of your responsibilities.
