Two LIMITED TERM ACADEMIC APPOINTMENTS AVAILABLE

The Faculty of Law at Thompson Rivers University (TRU) invites applications from candidates with a strong commitment to innovation and excellence in teaching and service as well as to collegial interaction for two Limited-Term Contracts (LTCs) on a bipartite basis at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor. These appointments are to teach in the 2020-2021 academic year.

The Committee invites applications from candidates in all teaching areas. Teaching the mandatory First year course Fundamental Legal Skills is a hiring priority. We encourage candidates to identify areas of teaching interest falling in the core JD curriculum, including Criminal Law and Property Law.

We also invite applicants to describe how they can enrich our emphasis on practical, experiential, and skills-based learning approaches within our JD program.

The successful applicant will be expected to teach and mentor law students and, through service activities, contribute to the further building of our new law school now in its 10th year of operation.

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must have a JD, LL.B or equivalent degree; ordinarily an LL.M or equivalent; and a completed or in-progress PhD or equivalent. The Committee will also consider candidates who are not pursuing a doctorate if they can demonstrate excellence through equivalent scholarly and/or professional experience. Applicants must have a superior academic record and demonstrated record of, or a strong potential for, excellence in teaching. In addition, they should have the ability and willingness to contribute to the intellectual and scholarly life of the Faculty and to the University more generally.
