Sustainability Research Grants for Faculty and Students

Applications will soon be invited for both the TRU Sustainability Research Grant for Faculty and the TRU Sustainability Research Grant for Students. The purpose of these grants is to encourage interdisciplinary research and expand knowledge of sustainability and sustainable development, defined in terms of sustainability’s four pillars — environmental, social, economic and cultural. Preference is given to applications incorporating interdisciplinary perspectives and/or methodologies.

Six grants are available in the 2023-2024 year:

  • Sustainability Research Grant for Faculty - Two grants at $5,000 each
  • Sustainability Research Grant for Students - Four Grants at $2,500 each

Application dates:

  • February 5, 2024 - Applicants are encouraged to submit a voluntary pre-proposal for their project (500 word summary)
  • March 25, 2024 - Final applications are due

Application guidelines:

Grants will be awarded on a competitive basis. Proposed applications must include:

  • Your research project with short-term and long-term goals (One page maximum)
  • A project description (One page maximum)
  • A proposed budget alongside budget justification (One page maximum)
  • The application must be supported by a current CV
