Book an Appointment

TRU is a scent-reduced environment. Due to extreme sensitivities experienced by some staff and students, we ask that you reduce the scented personal-care products you wear to the Writing Centre.

Preparing for an appointment

  • Please bring the assignment from your professor, some questions and ideas, and your draft (if you have one).
  • During your tutoring session, the tutor will indicate any gaps or problems in your writing, teach you how to improve your writing through mini-lessons, model the writing process, and provide tips to strengthen your writing skills.
  • The goal of a session is to help students become better, more confident writers. Tutors are trained to teach, not edit.
  • We do not help with take-home exams unless we have consent from the instructor.

Winter 24 Semester (Jan. 4 to Apr. 22)
Fall 24 Semester (Sept. 21 to Dec. 20)

The Writing Centre offers 45-minute appointments with qualified graduate tutors. Students can book up to two appointments per week by logging in at tru.mywconline.com.

This schedule is for students who need help with a 5000 or 6000 level course.

Graduate students are welcome to book on the Undergraduate schedule if they need help with grammar or lower level concerns.

Tutors who are enrolled in a Master's Degree program are listed on the schedule.

Summer 24 Semester (May 13 to Aug 9)

The Graduate and Undergraduate schedules are combined.

Mon. to Fri. - 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Limited appointments available on Saturdays and Sundays.

Graduate students can make two appointments per day (or four per week.)

Tutors who are enrolled in a Master's Degree program are listed on the schedule.

Online Graduate Courses

If you are enrolled in an online course (ending in "1") for a Master's degree, or Graduate diploma or certificate, you can book on the Undergrad or Graduate schedule.

We offer in-person and virtual appointments (synchronous and asynchronous).
