Career ambassadors encourage students to ‘start early’ and take the first step towards the career, job, volunteer position or work term they are after.
Career ambassadors promote the Career and Experiential Learning Department through activities such as class visits, presentations, information sessions, events and peer-to-peer support. They work closely with CEL coordinators to enhance the visibility of the department while acting as a point of contact for students.

Being a career ambassador also gives you the opportunity to connect with career development advisors, faculty members, alumni, peers and industry representatives during events like the TRU Job Fair.
Responsibilities
Represent the Career and Experiential Learning Department (CEL) as a career ambassador by promoting events, services and resources.
- Contribute to creating marketing materials and promotional strategies to engage students of all years and programs
- Collaborate with student associations to organize events or promotional efforts
- Provide ideas and feedback to CEL regarding students’ needs and requests for services and programs
- Support the collection of data and data entry
- Deliver short in-class presentations to promote CEL and its programs
- Attend various internal events and tabling to provide support to staff and faculty
- Attend team meetings and training as scheduled
- Assist with recruiting and training new ambassadors
Eligibility
- Enrolled as a student in good standing for fall and winter semesters
- Available four hours per week
- Interested and committed to advancing CEL’s mission of striving to empower students and alumni with the skills, tools and resources they need to achieve their career goals
- Enthusiasm for career/professional development and supporting peers to discover and meet their potential
- Research skills and proactive curiosity that could be applied to investigating professional opportunities, employers and external partners, industry trends, and more
- Demonstrates strong communication skills (written and verbal) including public speaking
- Exercises professionalism, leadership and accountability
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Strong judgement, time management and problem-solving skills
- Reliable and punctual
