Service Learning 3000 Course

Gain credit for supporting the local community

Service Learning 3000 provides third and fourth-year students with faculty supervised service-learning opportunities.

This section of service-learning provides senior-level students with an extended opportunity to be engaged in and contribute to a local, not-for-profit organization in Kamloops on selected projects based on the organization’s need.

Students working on projects for the community organization will have key roles assisting with specific projects. In addition, students will be required to spend part of their time providing direct service at the organization’s site, enriching their overall service-learning experiences and increasing their knowledge of this organization's critical role in the Kamloops community.

Service Learning provides students (both individuals and cohorts of up to five students) with faculty supervised opportunities for civic participation and community involvement within Kamloops. Service Learning carries elective credit: third- and fourth-year students may count up to six credits of Service Learning toward their degrees with departmental approval. Service Learning 3000 projects that are directly related to the student's program of study may be used to satisfy majors requirements.

Service Learning 3000 is taught annually in the winter semester. To enquire about the course or enroll, contact Experiential Learning Coordinator Larry Iles at liles@tru.ca
