Applied Computer Skills (30 hours)
This course is an extended introductory course for those with very little experience with computers and for those needing the basic computer skills to get back into the workforce. Learn how to properly turn on and off a computer, navigate through the Windows operating system, use the file management system, browse the internet, use basic typing skills, and accomplish basic email tasks. You will be introduced to Word and Excel and given an overview of the basic functions each program offers.

Bookkeeping Level 1 • XBKP 0600
Get an introduction to manual accounting, with an emphasis on fundamental accounting principles and their application in day-to-day business situations. This course is based on a service business organized as a sole proprietorship. You will practise basic bookkeeping and accounting skills, including double-entry general journal entries, posting to the general ledger, preparing a trial balance, recording adjustments in a 10-column worksheet, producing period-end financial statements, closing the temporary accounts, maintaining petty cash and preparing bank reconciliations.
Prerequisite: Grade 11 or mature student status.
This program may also be recognized as part of the Business Fundamentals certificate program.
