Science Program Options
The TRU Faculty of Science includes a wide variety of program areas. Some of these programs are shorter in length (2-3 years) while others are longer. The following areas are now represented in the Faculty of Science: animal heath technology, architectural & engineering technology, biology, chemistry, computer information systems, computing science, digital art & design, engineering, environmental science, geology, mathematics & statistics, natural resource science, physics, and respiratory therapy. Students looking towards professional careers in areas such as medicine, optometry, dentistry and the like, can choose to enroll in an associate degree or transfer degree program related to their choosen career path. Students may choose to take one or two courses or an entire program of studies either on campus or in some cases by distance education.
Our CAREER TECHNOLOGY programs are up to 3 years in length and normally lead directly to job opportunities. A CERTIFICATE is granted for completion of programs of 45 credits or less and a DIPLOMA is granted for those of 46 credits or more.
There are several undergraduate DEGREE program options within the Faculty of Science, averaging 4 or 5 years in duration: Bachelor of Computing Science, Bachelor of Natural Resource Science, Bachelor of Science, and Associate of Science. Students may also apply to enter a Co-op Education option within their program. Co-op Education integrates academic studies with paid periods of relevant work experience and usually extends the graduation date by a year. Advantages of the Co-op option are that students get paid job experience in the field of choice and employers get exposed to potential future employees.
Science is also home to a GRADUATE DEGREE program: the Master of Science in Environmental Science.
