Preparedness

These response guidelines are intended to assist faculty, staff and students in responding to emergency situations which may occur on TRU campuses. While the guide does not cover every conceivable situation, it supplies the basic guidelines necessary to cope with most emergency situations.

The procedures outlined herein form part of the TRU Health and Safety Program and are to be followed by all faculty, staff and students. Emergency operational responses will be conducted by or with the approval of the Incident Commander directing the emergency response operations.

Emergencies, disasters, accidents, injuries and crisis situations can occur at any time and without warning, but their effects can be minimized if proper emergency procedures are followed. Being physically and psychologically prepared to handle emergencies is everyone’s responsibility.

Depending on your workplace, these procedures may vary from the information given in this document. Ensure that you familiarize yourself with the emergency procedures specific to your location.
