Event Safety Plans

Indoor events

To comply with current Provincial Health Orders, certain indoor events of any size are still not allowed. Please review the information below regarding what is and is not allowed.

Non-approved indoor events/gatherings include:

  • Sponsored or ticketed parties
  • Celebrations
  • Retirement parties
  • Celebrations of life, birthdays, anniversaries, upcoming marriage
  • A receipt of an award
  • Wedding receptions, galas, etc.

Allowable indoor events

  • Must be at a venue (a bookable room on campus or in the Campus Activity Centre)
  • Must fall under one of these categories:
    • Concerts, theatre performances, movies, dance performances, symphony, conferences, conventions, trade shows, workshops, or home shows, recreational education or classes (such as arts, crafts, music, photography, culture or travel), youth programming, sports, and fitness.
  • Must be at 50 percent capacity
  • Must have seven square meters of floor space for each participant (with the exception of fitness classes, which are capped at 25 people maximum)
  • Require a Communicable Disease Plan (formerly called a safety plan)
  • Require masks to be worn by all attendees at all times (except when actively eating or drinking)
  • Require proof of vaccination QR code for entry (attendees) — only fully vaccinated people can attend
  • Require all attendees to remain seated

Outdoor events

Allowable outdoor events

  • Must fall under one of these categories:
    • Sport events, concerts, shows etc.
  • Must be at 50 percent of seated capacity or 5,000 people, whatever is greater.
  • Require a Communicable Disease Plan
  • Does not require attendees to be fully vaccinated to attend the outside event

Exemptions

Academic (lectures, labs, research, practicums, field trips, etc.) and workplace exemptions are still in effect, including social gatherings for workers in their workplace (as long as no other members of the public, including students are present).
