With classes starting on Wednesday, Sept. 3, Thompson Rivers University is encouraging students to Jump the Line.
“We are hoping students take advantage of our longer hours of operation to access key services before they start classes on Wednesday,” said Josh Keller, Director marketing and communications. “Getting a head start on the back to class logistics means students can do more than stand in line during the first few days of September.”
The best day for local students to get ahead is Friday, Aug. 29. The university is open 8am to 4pm, allowing ample time for students to register for courses, pay fees, get their student card, and if they need to, drop in at Academic Advising.
For students arriving from out of town over the weekend, they can Jump the Line on Monday, Sept. 1 from 10 am until 2pm. Tim Horton’s on Student Street will also be open.
TRU Student Union will be available at their office from 9 am to 4pm each day, in the Independent Centre for students to get their U-pass or to opt out of medical benefits (if applicable).
Earlier this year, the TRU Senate passed a bylaw for a one-year trial to start classes one day later than the traditional Tuesday after Labour Day. First year students were invited to register for Orientation.
On Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 3 and 4, the TRU Bookstore has extended its hours of service until 9pm to accommodate students waiting until the first two days of class to buy their books.
