Course Delivery

At TRU School of Nursing (SON), our faculty, staff, and students are working hard to support the pandemic efforts, reduce the spread of the virus, ensure students can continue their academic progression, and join the work force that needs them in whatever capacity that they are able to help. We have transformed and adapted our Schools work in the following ways:

• All nursing theory and lab courses are delivered face to face on campus.
• In accordance with the provincial health guidelines students will follow PPE protocol while attending lab courses. » Watch our video about student access to the NPH building
• Although clinical practicums will continue they may be modified, delayed, and/or suspended depending on direction from the Provincial Health Officer and/or medical health officers. Students will be adequately prepared to the practice setting where they will be practising through an orientation to the assigned practice setting at the onset of the practice placement. In addition, students will be asked to complete a daily self-assessment using the provincial self-assessment tool prior to each clinical practice shift to ensure that they are asymptomatic.
• Our support and resource services, such as the library and student affairs, have also transformed their services to on-line support.

The situation is evolving rapidly, and TRU and the SON is in regular consultation with our practice partners, with the BC government, and with other Schools of Nursing to plan for the challenges ahead.
