Pro Bono Students Canada

Thompson Rivers University launched its Pro Bono Students Canada chapter in 2017 and it continues to grow!

PBSC is a national pro bono organization with chapters at over 20 law schools across the country. Each chapter partners with community organizations so students can provide legal research and information. As a result, about 1,600 PBSC volunteers provide approximately 140,000 hours of free legal services to over 400 organizations, courts and tribunals in Canada each year.

Through our program, PBSC law student volunteers are given an opportunity to enhance their legal skills by providing free legal services to individuals and communities in need in Canada. Thompson Rivers University Pro Bono Students Canada chapter’s past projects have included working with First Nations and citizen action groups. PBSC volunteers have a genuine passion for public interest work, and a commitment to increasing access to justice in our local community. Our hope is that we are creating a generation of law students who will enter the legal profession with a commitment to providing some of their legal services free of charge.
