Program overview
Mastering the advanced science and art of baking elevates you as a respected professional in the field of baking and pastry arts. You learn from internationally experienced pastry chefs and gain the expertise you need to advance your career with Red Seal designation.
The Baker Apprenticeship program consists of:
- 3 levels of technical training
- 5,040 work-based training hours

Admission Requirements
- Registered as an apprentice with SkilledTradesBC
- Must hold a valid Foodsafe Level 1 certification
- Must have an sponsor
About Sponsorship
Levels 1 & 2 — An employer sponsor is not required. The TRU Culinary Arts department can act as your sponsor for these levels. Please reach out to our program chair, Kimbre Woods (kwoods@tru.ca), to arrange this.
Level 3 — An employer sponsor is required to enroll at this level. If you do not have one, we encourage you to secure employment in the baking industry before registering. You are also welcome to contact Kimbre Woods (kwoods@tru.ca) for guidance.
