Clarification Regarding the Faculty of Adventure, Culinary Arts, and Tourism
We recognize that recent public reporting and informal discussion about the future of the Faculty of Adventure, Culinary Arts, and Tourism (FACT) may have caused concern for students, prospective students, alumni, faculty, staff, and community partners.
We want to clarify the current situation.FACT programs continue to operate as usual. Current students remain in their programs, and there are no changes to program requirements, credentials, course planning, advising, or student supports. Students should be assured that their academic pathways remain in place. Prospective students, alumni, and partners can continue to have confidence in the quality, value, and future of FACT programs.
TRU is currently considering how best to support its academic programs in a challenging post-secondary environment. As this work continues, the university is committed to communicating clearly and transparently with students, employees, alumni, applicants, and partners.
FACT programs have a long and respected history at TRU. Adventure Studies, Culinary Arts, and Tourism Management have built strong alumni networks, industry relationships, community partnerships, and applied learning opportunities that continue to serve students, employers, and communities in the region and beyond. These strong programs are well-positioned to thrive in a changing university environment.
No formal proposal to dissolve the Faculty of Adventure, Culinary Arts, and Tourism and rehome its programs has entered the university’s governance process.
We appreciate the care and commitment of everyone connected to FACT and its programs. Our priority remains supporting students, protecting program quality, and ensuring that any future decisions are made through the appropriate academic and governance processes.

Interim Dean, Faculty of Adventure, Culinary Arts and Tourism
