Program Information
The TRU HCA Certificate program follows the BC HCA Curriculum.
This program is offered at the Williams Lake Campus during the winter semester.
Program Dates
- February to August
This 27-week program is designed to prepare the graduate to function, under supervision, as a Health Care Assistant. Learned skills will be applied in the community utilizing care facilities, assisted living facilities and private homes. The focus will be on training the health care worker to assist the older adult in meeting his/her basic physical, emotional, environmental and social needs. Students learn to provide practical assistance to help maintain the client's maximum independence within the limits of his/her ability.

Note: HEAL 1100 Introd to Practice course meets the Out of Province and International Applicants requirement for BC Care Aide Registry.
Students will join an HCA cohort for this course only. The days of the week and time of the course will vary according to the HCA program schedule. Course registration is only available when space permits.
