Online Transition Program - English (includes weekly schedule)

How it Works

This is a 3-week online, paced program and you’re expected to attend virtual classes daily. Once enrolled, you will receive instructions on how to access your online classroom experience.

English Studies: Student-centered, communicative lessons designed to enhance each of the core skills (speaking, listening, reading, writing) while providing students with insights into life in Canada.

Canadian Culture: Content-based instruction is provided as you virtually explore geography, regional foods, popular music, and more.

Intercultural Communication Skills:
Having a solid understanding of the basics of intercultural communication theory will serve you well as you pursue your academic and professional goals. Engaging in online activities will make learning fun.

Electives: Options include Global Citizenship, Healthy Choices, Leadership Skills, and STEM skills. Note that the list may vary depending on enrollment.

One-to-One Seminars: An added bonus of our online format is one-to-one seminars where you will have two 15-minute sessions with an instructor. Individualized instruction, pronunciation tutorials, Q&A sessions, and conversation topics are some of the possibilities.

Virtual Activities: These sessions are sure to be a program highlight and may include an exercise class, cooking demonstrations, dance lessons, trivia contests, breakout box challenges (similar to an escape room), international student panels, and more.

Three 2-hour English for Campus Success sessions

Students will learn tips and tricks for achieving the best possible Accuplacer test scores upon arrival. In addition, essential topics such as summarizing, paraphrasing, and making citations will be covered.

Three 2-hour Study Skills for Campus Success sessions

Students will work through a series of activities and self-assessment tasks so they can discover their own unique learning styles.  Upon completion, students will be able to use a range of practical and efficient skills to optimize their study time.
