Accelerated Training

Flexibility and Innovation Apprenticeship Technical Training

The FIATT program offers flexibility and innovation in steamfitter/pipefitter apprenticeship technical training. Through an accelerated program blending classroom and online learning, FIATT prepares Level 3 and 4 apprentices to achieve Red Seal certification with less classroom time.

How it works

The standard in-class, block technical training model of steamfitter/pipefitter apprenticeship training can take more than four years to complete. An apprentice is required to complete 5,620 hours of on-the-job training and an additional 26 weeks of in-class block technical training in four levels.

FIATT apprentices will receive a portion of their Level 3 and Level 4 technical training online. Technical training includes both theoretical and practical assessments. The online portion of the program is followed by 10 weeks of on-campus technical training for the balance of Level 3 and Level 4 competencies. This format reduces overall on-campus classroom time by four weeks while allowing the apprentice to fulfil the required technical training to attain Red Seal certification as a steamfitter/pipefitter.
