Mechanical Trades Sampler

Technicians working in the mechanical trades fields examine, test and repair the parts and systems on many different types of vehicles and motors. Whether you’re interested in learning some new mechanical skills to use at home or launching a new career in this in-demand industry, our 12-week sampler program is the perfect introduction.

Gain experience and knowledge of working on cars and light trucks, heavy mechanical equipment, transport trucks, motorcycles, snowmobiles and small engines. The Mechanical Trades Sampler program will help you determine where your interests lay if you plan to continue your education in the mechanical trades.

Course content

XMEC 0710

Utilizing sampler courses based on the Industry Training Authority of BC’s Foundation Automotive, Heavy Duty/Commercial Transport, and Motorcycle Technician programs.

Students will be introduced to many of the materials and processes, as well as the safe use of hand tools, portable power tools and other equipment regularly used by Automotive Service, Heavy Duty/Commercial Transport, and Motorcycle Technicians.

Hands-on

This program places a strong emphasis on developing practical, hands-on mechanical skills. Students should expect to spend most of their time in the shop.
