Access - Getting to Kamloops

Kamloops is a transportation hub in British Columbia and easily accessible.

Kamloops International Airport

Flights to Kamloops are available from a several airlines including Air Canada and Westjet. There are a number of daily flights; however, it is a smaller regional airport, so booking early is recommended. Details on carriers can be found at:

Airport transfer from the Kamloops airport to conference hotels.

Taxis are approximately $25.

The Sun Star Shuttle will provide transfer to the conference hotels at a special rate of $10 per person if pre-booked. Call Jack at 250-314-4803 and indicate that you are attending the TESL Canada 2012 conference and provide your flight information.

Airport hospitality: Look for the TESL Canada 2012 Conference hospitality volunteers at the airport. They will be easily identifiable and happy to help you with your transportation needs and provide visitor information for Kamloops and vicinity.

Kelowna International Airport

The Kelowna airport is served by a number of airlines. It is approximately 2 hours from the Kelowna airport to the conference site at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops. Please note that there is no shuttle between the Kelowna airport and Kamloops. We recommend reserving a rental car if you choose to fly to the Kelowna International Airport.

By Car: Kamloops is approximately 3.5 hours by car from Vancouver, BC.

Carpool and Bus: We encourage participants to consider carpooling and for professional associations to consider arranging bus transportation for their members. BC TEAL is planning to offer bus transportation for members from Vancouver to Kamloops - please see the BC TEAL website for information in September.

Bus from Vancouver: The Greyhound bus takes approximately 4.5 to 6 hours to reach Kamloops from Vancouver. The Kamloops bus depot is approximately 2km from the Thompson Rivers University campus. For more information see www.greyhound.ca.

Train from Vancouver: ViaRail leaves Pacific Central Station in Vancouver approximately three times a week for Kamloops. The trip takes between 8 and 9 hours and arrives in the northern part of Kamloops during the night. For more information: www.viarail.ca.
