Bachelor of Science Physics Major
A BSc with Major in Physics from TRU combines rigorous training in the ideas and concepts of the physical world with practical experience in electronics, computing, acoustics, optics and other fundamental topics. The knowledge this major provides is a strong base for students to expand their expertise in applied science and technology fields as the need arises. TRU graduates are hired by high-tech industries doing scientific research and development work. The BSc is also a good starting point for those students who want to enter professions in law, medicine, architecture, teaching and dentistry.
A BSc in Physics requires four years of full time study to complete. The length of the program increases to five years if a student enters the co-op education option. Study can also be conducted on a part-time basis which will lengthen the program of study. Completion of at least 120 TRU course credits is required (up to 60 credits may be transferred from another institution) with at least 72 of these being in science and 18 credits in courses outside of science. For students wishing to obtain in-depth exposure to different areas of science, the General Science BSc is also available whereby physics courses are combined with other subjects such as mathematics, chemistry and computing science to broaden the perspective.
