Kamloops and TRU
Thompson Rivers University is situated in Kamloops, British Columbia, at the confluence of the North and South Thompson Rivers, on the Tk’emlups te Secwepemc Territory - within the unceded traditional lands of the Secwepemc Nation.
Climatically we are in a semi arid upland on an interior plateau (altitude 500m)
Practically, TRU is 4 hours north-east of Vancouver BC and is accessible by 5 highways (1, 5, 5A, 16, 97), airport (YKA most flights from Vancouver and Calgary) and train (Via rail)
Geographically, TRU is located at 50°40'5.7" N 120°22'11.6" W
Grammatically, What three words has us at:https://what3words.com/island.email.coolest
Athletically, we are the Tournament Capital of Canada.
As Kamloops is Canada's Tournament Capital, Kamloops has many hotels, but there will invariably be a tournament (or two!) so we strongly urge you to book your room early. Below are two hotels who have blocked off a set of rooms until mid/end of April-ish. These hotels are an easy walk to the university. There are many other hotels but are farther away.
As student dorm rooms will not be ready in time for the conference, we encourage you to apply for travel grants.
