The TRU AHT Distance Education program allows a student located anywhere in Canada, who is already employed in a veterinary clinical setting, to achieve their goal of becoming an animal health technologist through distance education. This is achieved by a dynamic partnership of TRU AHT course instructors, a supportive veterinary employer willing to provide clinical mentoring and a student who is a self-motivated, independent learner.
The Canadian Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA) Animal Health Technology/Veterinary Technician Program Accreditation Committee views our Thompson Rivers University Animal Health Technology program as a fully accredited program delivering training in two methods — on campus and by distance.
Graduates of our program are eligible to write the Veterinary Technician National Examination. Upon successful completion of the VTNE, graduates can then apply for Registered Animal Health Technologist status with their provincial animal health technologist/veterinary technician association. This program is recognized in all provinces of Canada and also has full accreditation with the Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians.
Please be advised that this program qualifies for Canadian Student Loans. Contact your local post-secondary Canadian Student Loans office or TRU Financial Aid and Awards.
