Carpenter, Residential Construction
Gain familiarity with the use of hand tools, portable power tools and other equipment regularly used by carpenters. Ample opportunities to work with the materials used by carpenters including lumber, panel products, concrete, roofing materials, fasteners, and a wide variety of hardware. Learn to build stairs, forms for concrete, framed floors, walls, and roofs.
Carpenters work for construction companies, contractors and maintenance departments while others are self-employed.
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Placement on the Entry Assessment Test for English at an 0500 level
- Placement on the Entry Assessment Test for Math at an 0500 level
- Canadian Citizenship, or landed immigrant status
- Students must supply own hardhats, gloves and boots
- Good health
