Graduates from the BScN program can work in a variety of health care settings in community and in institutions. As a member of the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP), graduates can apply to the regulating body in other jurisdictions in Canada for registration. Those wishing to work outside Canada may be required to write a registration examination in that country. In 2010 the starting salary for an RN in a B.C. hospital was $31.71/hour.
Graduates of the BSN program can continue their education to obtain a Master's degree and a PhD. These additional degrees are required for faculty positions in university schools of nursing and for many administrative and research roles in nursing practice settings.
