The Award will be issued annually to students enrolled in the Faculty of Law to assist with cost related to their participation in the Vancouver recruitment process. Costs include travel, accommodation, meals, child care, lost wages, corporate attire, and personal care. Students must have a minimum 2.5 GPA and have demonstrated financial need.

Process: The student will need to:

1. Make a formal application to the Dean of Law in the form off a letter (attach this to your email)

2. Provide proof of financial assistance by including a copy of your notice of assessment from your online student loan account.

3. Provide expense receipts for any or all of the following or combination of that adds up to approximately $500 to include travel (gasoline receipts or mileage is costed at $0.50 per km, airfare, bus fare), accommodation, meals, child care, lost wages, corporate attire, and personal care.

4. Site the dates of travel, name of event seeking employment, and/or potential employer’s name with which interviews were held

Fraser Valley Bar Association Award

One annual Prize of $1,000 will be awarded to a student in the J.D. program of the Faculty of Law. While preference is given to students in financial need with ties to the Fraser Valley, selection of a suitable recipient will remain at the discretion of the Faculty of Law. To be eligible for this award, you will need to have registered with the Student Support & Financial Aid department as being in financial need, and then submit your application to the Faculty of Law through the online submission form indicating that you have ties to the Fraser Valley.

The Bursary will be awarded for three consecutive years annually to a student who is preferably a single parent enrolled in the TRU Faculty of Law who demonstrates financial need. Alternatively, to a student in great financial need. The bursary will be awarded upon completion of the first semester demonstrating the commitment to completing her/his studies in Law at TRU with continued eligibility requiring a minimum 2.70 GPA. In case the original recipient does not meet the stated conditions or other unforeseen circumstances, this bursary may be awarded to an alternate student that meets noted conditions.

This is a flexible fund responding to student emergency needs in the Faculty of Law. The students must demonstrate proof of financial need. 

The Helping Hands Law Bursary

One $5,000 bursary is available to a student entering the first year of the Juris Doctor program who demonstrates significant financial need. The bursary is paid at the end of each academic year ending in 2017, 2018, 2019, with continued eligibility requiring a minimum 2.70 CGPA and good standing in the JD program. The successful recipient must complete all three years of the JD program at TRU.

TRU Indigenous Law Alumni/ae (ILA) Bursary
