Fall 2021: The TRU Experience
Thinking about university this fall but unsure what it will look like?
Well, you’re not alone!
Planning your future during a global pandemic can feel overwhelming. To help, here are some frequently asked questions from prospective students just like you!
Will Fall 2021 classes be virtual or face-to-face? Our goal is that all students enrolled in TRU’s on-campus programs will have the opportunity to attend one of our campuses for some face-to-face instruction.
What is the difference between virtual learning and online learning? With virtual learning, you are part of a digital classroom and can connect with faculty members and classmates through live lessons or recorded, group assignments, chats, and more!
What Covid-19 protocols are in place if I am on campus? We clean. A lot! Some rooms and spaces are closed or rearranged, everyone must wear a mask indoors, and hand sanitizer is readily available. For more details, check out tru.ca/covid-19.
Is the library open? The building is closed to visitors, but we have online services and staff support daily.
Are student residences open? Yes, our residences are open!
Can I apply to a program now and defer my acceptance if I need to? In many cases, you can defer a year. Contact us to find out more information about deferments.
I’m unsure about virtual learning. Are there student supports? Yes! TRU now offers Student Success 0600, a free online course that helps students make the most of programs with virtual learning!
Are there benefits to virtual learning? Absolutely! Many students like the flexibility of virtual learning. You can take classes anywhere - from home in your pajamas to your favourite coffee shop! And virtual learning also teaches technical skills that could benefit your future education and employment.
