Hospitality Scholarships & Bursaries
Hospitality Scholarships &Amp; Bursaries
$625,000 endowment generating $25,000 per year
$25,000 per year for five years.
$25,000 per year would provide 12 awards for students in Tourism Management and the Culinary Arts. Our proposed breakdown of support is 3 $2,000 Bursaries and 2 $2,000 Scholarships for students in the Culinary Arts program, and 5 $2,000 Bursaries and 2 $2,500 Scholarships for students in Tourism Management programs at Thompson Rivers University.
If established over ten years, this support would be the single biggest impact on student assistance in these departments in the history of Thompson Rivers University. Each year, fifty students from one of the fastest growing and most interdisciplinary faculties at TRU would have their lives changed for the better. Scholarship winners would be rewarded for their hard work and commitment, while those receiving bursaries would surmount the financial hurdle of post-secondary education and get the opportunity to better their lives.
The Faculty of Adventure, Culinary Arts and Tourism at TRU houses some of the best programs at TRU and draws students locally, regionally, provincially, nationally and even internationally. The Tourism Management program has the distinction of having the first tourism degree in British Columbia, and the longest running Bachelor of Tourism Management (BTM) in Western Canada. This is a forward thinking, innovative, and engaging degree that is constantly evolving in order to better serve both students’ needs and emerging industry challenges. The Culinary Arts program at Thompson Rivers University prepares students for a diversified, intensive education in culinary training. The faculty are dedicated to preparing students with exemplary culinary skills and to inspire a lifelong passion for excellence in the culinary industry that embraces environmental, social and economic sustainability.
