Bachelor of Education in Trades and Technology Scholarships and Bursaries

The Details

Bachelor of Education in Trades and Technology Scholarships and Bursaries
The Bachelor of Education in Trades & Technology (BETT) is an applied degree designed to prepare graduates to teach in middle and secondary schools in technical and trades related areas.

Investment: $500,000 endowment generating four $5,000 awards every year

OPPORTUNITY

An endowment of $500,000 would establish pivotal awards attracting students to the BETT program each year.

IMPACT

Meeting the needs of BC’s growing technology sector and the demand for teachers in this field- means that scholarships and bursaries are greatly needed for future trades teachers. The School of Education in conjunction with the School of Trades and Technology would like to recognize excellence for students pursuing teaching in the trades.

Attracting Red Seal qualified trades people into the Bachelor of Education program will address the challenge and the growing need for ever-more specific skill sets. We want to ensure we are producing well trained Trades graduates, but also that we have Teachers in Trades to help meet the growing demand.

These programs will open doors for those who have a passion for the Trades field, and the practical knowledge, but want to further their education and teach. Scholarships and Bursaries would help reduce the financial pressures and make it possible for students to focus on their goals while achieving an education in an area of huge demand. This kind of support would also make a difference by encouraging top students into programs and helping those in financial need get an education they may not be able to afford otherwise.
