Certificate in Information Technology

The Certificate in Information Technology (IT) program gives you the freedom to take a wide variety of IT courses offered by TRU (distance or on-campus) and OL's consortium partners.

Program requirements

Admission recommendations

Provincial Grade 12 diploma or equivalent

Certificate requirements

30 credits total, with a GPA of 2.00 or higher over all courses required to complete this credential, as follows:

Core knowledge requirements (27 credits)
  • MNGT 1221, Supervision
  • MNGT 1211, Management Principles and Practices or equivalent (3)
  • ENGL 1101, Composition
  • CMNS 1291, Introduction to Professional Writing
  • CMNS 1811, Business, Professional and Academic Composition or equivalent (3)

Three to six credits in introductory IT and/or computer courses (MIST 2611 and COMP 1131, COMP 1231 or alternatives)

15 to 18 credits in IT-related courses

Elective requirements (3 credits)

One three-credit elective, not including CMPT courses

Before registering in any course, consult with your Program Advisor to ensure that the courses you select are appropriate program of study and educational goals. Otherwise, you may find that a course does not meet program requirements and cannot be used toward the program's credential.
