What is the Student Experience Office?

The Student Experience Office is your first stop when you arrive at Thompson River’s University! Our role is to ensure new-to-TRU students make a successful transition to university life. We want to support students achieve their academic, personal and social goals. We also want to ensure that our office offers an assortment of opportunities to engage students in university life such as workshops, leadership development, peer mentoring and certificate programs.

Our office is located in Old Main 1486 and is open Monday-Friday from 8am-4pm.

    Responsible for the oversight of all programs, activities and staff from the office. These programs include Orientation & Transitions, Mentorship, Leadership, and Fraternities and Sororities.

    Responsible for the oversight of all mentoring programming including peer mentor professional development, TRU LEADership conference, and Steps towards Success. Works with students and faculty on certificates such as Global Competency and Leadership in Environmental Sustainability.

    Job Responsibilities

    Responsible for the oversight of fall and winter orientation activities as well as overseeing all transition programming needs for new-to-TRU students such as new-to-TRU peer mentors, Study Skills café workshops, Steps Towards Success conference and student street weekly outreach.
