TRU is already a highly multicultural university. Walking around campus, it’s easy to see the richness of cultural diversity that thrives here. In an increasingly globalized world, that diversity offers incredible opportunities for learning and engagement – which is why fostering intercultural understanding is a strategic priority for the university. The Intercultural Ambassadors program is a student-driven initiative to promote intercultural learning, dialogue, and community building on campus and beyond. The program is hosted by the Faculty of Student Development and is open to everyone who is interested in cultivating an engaged, welcoming, and respectful intercultural campus community.
The program is currently in an outreach and collaboration phase. We are looking to engage with students to design a program that meets student and campus community needs. Keep an eye out for upcoming events and opportunities throughout the winter and summer semesters, with a full program launch coming in Fall 2019. Participants who are accepted into the Fall program can expect to engage in a range of personal and professional intercultural learning opportunities and workshops. They will have the chance to reflect on and share aspects of their own cultural heritage(s), and to learn about others. Intercultural Ambassadors will also engage in an outreach or give-back project that helps to foster intercultural understanding.
