TRU Student Life

Student Life supports new-to-TRU students making the transition to university. Faculty, staff and peers collaborate on Student Street every Friday during the fall and winter semester, talking to students and handing out timely resources. We offer free treats and a chance to enter a monthly draw for a gift card. Our goal is to help students with academic, personal and social success.

Study Skills Cafe

These workshops will support your academics and personal goals. Students who attend 3 out of 4 workshops are entered in a draw for a prize valued over $100. Fall 2018 workshops will be held in OM2674 (Writing Center) starting at 4:45pm on the dates below.

Taking good notes can strengthen your overall success as a student. This workshop is designed to provide you with note-taking and test-taking strategies you can use during lectures and while reading. You will learn how to compose clear, concise, and meaningful notes which you can use for review, improving your memory and preparing for tests/exams.

It is never fun getting in trouble or breaking the rules. This workshop will teach you the basic skills needed to properly use citations, define plagiarism, and stay on top of your academic integrity.

This workshop will present wyas to help you become aware of the different kinds of stresses and how to take control of them so they do not interfere with your daily life and academics.
