Since the summer of 2020, TRU has gradually increased select in-person teaching, learning, research, administrative and support services. TRU’s plan to resume limited activities considered the following strategy and guidelines.
- The health and safety of the TRU community is our top priority.
- Resumption is at the direction of the provincial health officer and the provincial public post-secondary sector Go-Forward Guidelines.
- Expansion or contraction of face-to-face activity is based on the direction of the provincial health officer. It is understood that as the spread of COVID-19 changes (for better or worse), the provincial health officer may direct that face-to-face operations change accordingly.
- Limited resumption of activity does not mean that all faculty and staff will return to campus.
- To support the health and safety of our community through appropriate physical distancing and other protective measures, TRU will bring back only the minimum number of employees possible to maintain operations (roughly 30%). TRU will continue to encourage and support working remotely except where it is not operationally feasible to do so.
- It will be the responsibility of all students, faculty, staff, and visitors to assess themselves daily for COVID-19 symptoms prior to accessing TRU property, using the BC COVID-19 self-assessment tool.
- On-campus staffing levels may increase depending on direction from the provincial health officer such as relaxing restrictions and the effectiveness of safety protocols. Conversely, if the provincial health officer issues a directive to increase restrictions, TRU may have to revert back to more stringent safety measures.
