Academic Advising

  • Obtain current information about courses and programs
  • Obtain assistance with preparing educational plans and recommendations for placement based on entry tests and prerequisite courses

  • Provide workshops for new or prospective students known as STEP ONE

Assessment Services

  • Testing is provided for program entrance with the Accuplacer Assessment

Bookstore & Cashiering Services

  • Purchase textbooks, TRU logoed clothing and giftware as well as miscellaneous stationery items.

Library Services

  • Use the TRU Library collection (books, videos, electronic article databases, etc.)
  • Use the Computer lab with access to a black & white printer
  • Book private study rooms
  • Get help: Research, reference & information services provided by the Librarian
  • Obtain Library instruction for groups or 1:1 provided by the librarian
  • Obtain Student ID Cards & email addresses (must be presented every time library materials are borrowed)

Counselling

  • Obtain assistance with:
  • personal issues
  • career counselling
  • Short term or crises intervention
  • Workshops throughout the year may be conducted on various topics such as career planning, stress/time management, study skills and test anxiety
  • Appointments are booked in advance but emergency or crises are dealt with as quickly as possible.
  • Appointments can be booked on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays between 8:30am and 4:30pm.

Coordinator of Services for Aboriginal Students

  • Obtain assistance and support for all aboriginal students: Status, Non-status, Métis and Inuit
  • Obtain information to assist in the student's success
  • Obtain assistance to liaise with bands, communities and local agencies

Open Learning Centre

  • Obtain access to hundreds of Open Learning courses and programs (For First Nations communities in the surrounding area)
  • Obtain assistance with all Open Learning courses and programs that are delivered online or by distance and facilitated through the Learning Centre
  • Obtain assistance to develop an individual learning plan
  • Obtain help with the process of registering for Open Learning courses and applying for Open Learning programs
