Adobe Acrobat
Do you find you are working with more and more Portable Document Files, better known as pdf? In this day and age, you may find that you are now required to share your files electronically by email, over a network, on the web, etc., so recipients can view, print and offer feedback. In this course, you will use Adobe Acrobat to make your information more portable, accessible, and useful, to meet the needs of your target audience.
Prerequisite: Familiarity with the Windows Operating System and Windows File Management.

Adobe Photoshop Elements XPCS 0270
This 12 hour introductory workshop has been designed for the digital photographer using Adobe Photoshop Elements.
The topics covered will include:
- Managing your growing digital photo collection
- Cropping, straightening, & resizing your photos
- Fixing the most common digital photo problems fast!
- Retouching secrets the pros use to retouch portraits
- How to colour correct any photo without breaking a sweat
- How to remove blemishes, dark circles & wrinkles
- How to colour hair, whiten teeth, soften skin and much more!

Basic Computers XPCS 0730
Designed for computer or internet novices, this 24-hour course will introduce the user to basic home computing and explore some of the infinite possibilities of the Internet. Learn to take control of your files and about basic computer maintenance. Venture into the wonders of the World Wide Web. Connect with friends and family through email. Explore social networking through chat rooms, user groups, blogs, and facebook. Consider the pros and cons of shopping on line. Discuss the ways and means of protecting yourself and your computer from viruses, hoaxes, and malware.
With a combination of instructional support and practical hands-on application, the users will learn to manage their files/system and enjoy a taste of the ever expanding world of the Internet.

Computing for the Baby Boomer Generation
Designed for the Baby Boomer generation, but open to everyone, this 15-hour course will introduce the student to the basics of computing. Upon completion and with the combination of instructional support and practical hands on application, the learner will be able to manage his/her system effectively.

File Management Basics
Take control of your computer's filing system!
This 12-hour workshop will put you in the driver's seat when it comes to organizing your computer files. Learn how to create folders, subfolders, move, copy, backup, and finally remove those unwanted files safely and securely. This course is ideal for those who are familiar with the Windows environment and just need some guidance working with file management or those who require a refresher.

How to Use Your Digital Camera XPCS 0230
Learn the basic functions of your digital camera and more. In this 12-hour introductory course, you will learn the parts of the digital camera, how to take digital pictures, save them on the computer and improve them in a number of ways. Learn the differences between file size and the tips for emailing those family images. When registering, please state the camera you have and the program installed.
Prerequisite: Windows File Management Experience and/or one of the following: The Operating System, Nifty Fifties Basics, File Management Basics or Computing for the Baby Boomer Generation

Keyboarding to 25 wpm
This course is offered to those who wish to master the keyboard for entry into the computer courses or programs, or a full-time Office Administration program. Students should attain 25 wpm on 5-minute timings.
This is a non-credit, self-paced course with 30 hours of class time.

Living On-Line for Seniors
Designed for seniors, but open to everyone, this workshop will introduce the user to the possibilities of the World Wide
Web. Once you understand the basic functions of your computer and are willing to venture forward, you can begin “Living
On-Line”. From researching to shopping, from emailing to web blogs, this course will take you into the electronic world where communication is key. Learn how to meet new people, share common interests, connect with distant relatives, email pictures, and so much more. This 21 - hour hands-on workshop will cover the importance of virus protection, firewalls, cookies, etc. as well as the nuisances of email spam, pop-up ads, hitchhikers, etc.

Join us for the second course in the Lunch and Learn series, where you will enjoy a tasty lunch with the instructor, discuss what you need to learn from PowerPoint, and then move to a quick hands-on lesson in the computer lab. Bring your material from work if desired and put together a presentation you can take back with you. It is a quick and efficient way to learn exactly what skills you need in order to build your presentation.

Are you struggling with Word 2010 and just want to sit with someone for a few minutes to find out how to do the tasks you are familiar with in the earlier versions? Join us for a lunch and learn series in Word 2010. During the first ½ hour you will enjoy a tasty lunch (catered) and be introduced to your instructor. In this relaxed ½ hour, you will raise your questions to the instructor who will formulate the lesson to follow, which will be hands-on in the computer lab, based on the needs expressed.

Some topics include: Safari, Mail, Photos, Videos, YouTube, Maps, Notes, Calendar and Contacts.
PowerPoint is a slide show presentation program that helps you present a more effective display, demonstration or meeting presentation. This 8 hour course is designed to review the basic points of the program and assist students converting to the new Office 2010 version of Microsoft Office PowerPoint. The course will cover a review of design templates, fonts, re-arranging on a slide, clipart, adding tables, custom animation, slide view and outline view and the different printing functions. Students must be proficient with file management, and have previous experience with the Power Point program.
