The 8th Annual Great Canadian Smoke Out Challenge

I have one important question to ask you...if you are a tobacco user, is 2012 the year you are ready to quit for good?

If you are ready, or even if you aren’t too sure, I have some awesome news....the Wellness Centre and the TRU Respiratory Therapy Tobacco Cessation Clinic is here to HELP!!

We will be running our 8th annual Great Canadian Smoke-Out Challenge, that we hope will provide motivation, guidance and support to help make your quit attempt successful.

We know that quitting tobacco is hard, but we can link you with great resources and provide you with information on the new government program that covers the cost of nicotine replacement therapies (the patch and gum) as well as other pharmaceutical options such as Zyban and Champix. We can also monitor your progress through physical assessments so you can see that with every day you are tobacco free, your body gets healthier.

We can also offer you tips and strategies to be able to successfully cope with your triggers, so you are prepared when they do arise. We also recommend that you enlist a "quit buddy" who can support you throughout the duration of the challenge. You will both get a FREE bracelet (in "LiveStrong" fashion) to remind you of what you are working for. And, if you are successful, you are entered to win one of three $150 GC's to a wellness item of your choice.

You can start to register for the challenge on starting on Tuesday, Jan 17 from 12:30-3:30pm at Student Street, or you can also get the registration package by emailing tobaccoeducation@tru.ca or myself at ccorsi@tru.ca .
