Getting Ready

Travel Check List

What do I need to do before I leave?

1. Gather my important documents:

These documents must be with you at all times. Do not put them in your checked luggage.

  • Passport

  • Study permit approval letter. This letter will be given to you by the Canadian embassy and you will need to hand this letter to Canadian Immigration Services when you arrive
  • TRU final acceptance letter
  • Proof that you have enough money to support yourself while staying in Canada
  • Proof of medical insurance coverage from your country or at least enough coverage for your travels
  • If possible, reserve your flight ahead of time and confirm it later, after you have been granted a study permit approval letter. The beginning of semesters are busy times for air travel

3. Personal items
  • Appropriate clothing for the fall, winter, spring and summer
