Career Technical Centre (CTC) Foundation Trades Training
What is CTC Foundation* Trades Training?
This is an innovative partnership between TRU and BC School Districts and independent schools, bridging secondary and post-secondary education and training while enhancing transition to the workforce. These programs allow Grade 10 students to apply for a CTC Foundation Training program and earn concurrent credits through integrated secondary and post-secondary career oriented programs.
Each CTC Foundation program is two years in duration and allows secondary students to complete Grade 11 and 12 courses along with up to one year of post-secondary instruction.
Benefits of Attending a CTC Foundation Program:
- No post-secondary tuition fees while enrolled in a CTC Foundation Program (some fees do apply - see the current CTC application for details)
- Earn 20 - 32 Grade 12 credits and a TRU Foundation Certificate as well as credit towards your first year technical training as an apprentice all in one year or less!
- Choice of entry to employment with enhanced technical skills or continuing post-secondary studies
- Get a jump-start into a valuable trade career!
* Foundation Training has also been called Entry Level Trades Training (ELTT) or pre-apprenticeship (pre-app) trades training in the past - they all mean the same thing - and generally give credit for the first level of technical training for apprenticeship.
