Continuing Studies
Students are required to supply CSA safety boots, welding gloves, and welding caps. Welding helmet will be provided by TRU.
Introduction to Gas Metal Arc Welding (MIG) (XWLD 0510)
February 20 - March 14 Mon/Wed 7 - 10 pm $335 (24 hrs)
Gain skills in GMAW (MIG) wire feed welding. Several different types of wires and shielding gasses will be utilized in a variety of welding positions. Cutting and fitting of joints will be stressed, with the opportunity to plan and begin a small project. Participants are encouraged to bring their home welders.
Introduction to Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (TIG) (XWLD 0530)
April 3 - 26 Tues/Thurs 7 - 10 pm $365 (24 hrs)
This course is designed to allow the participants to gain skills in GTAW (TIG) welding. Several different types of filler rods will be used to TIG weld. Steel, stainless steel and aluminum will be utilized in a variety of welding positions.
Welding Upgrading (XWLD 0410) and Welder Testing (XWLD 0430)
The School of Trades and Technology is a licensed testing agency for the Boiler and Pressure Vessel Safety Branch and the Canadian Welding Bureau, providing welding testing and certification for certified company and union authorized CWB testing. We also offer a Welding Upgrading program that gives students practice and instruction in specific welding procedures which leads to further weld tests and certifications under CWB or ASME.
