Thompson Rivers University has partnered with the City of Kamloops, General Electric Water and Process Technologies (formerly Zenon Environmental Inc) to form the TRU Water Education and Research Centre. Located in the Kamloops Centre for Water Quality, this facility features a double classroom along with two laboratories designed for instrumentation and science-based research activities. While achieving a variety of research initiatives, the TRU Water Education and Research Centre additionally fills the need for a training facility within the water industry and serves to facilitate both national and international collaborations.

Operators currently in the water and wastewater treatment, distribution, and collections disciplines can take courses to meet mandatory continuing education units (CEUs) defined by the Environmental Operators Certification Program (EOCP) or for their own general interest.  Each course is 3 CEUs and can be applied towards the Water Treatment TechTechnologytificates and Diploma programs.
